Thank you to all those that contributed to the 2014 Northfield Community Picnic:

Deb and Halie of Dickinson Memorial Library -- Halie working with the Summer Reading Program Finale was the first one to put out the call to plan this year’s picnic. Deb made and provided the picnic posters and send out email notices. The library helped out with all aspects of the picnic from pre to post.

The library secured a Northfield Cultural Council grant for David Bates to entertain especially the children, but we all were delighted. Kids were sitting on the stage and adults were sitting on the lawn or enjoying standing.   The Summer Reading Finale also featured a Raffle, free ice cream and watermelon. Sadly the week following the Picnic was Halie’s last week at the library. We will miss Halie and wish her well.

Thanks to Bill Barns and Sharon from Northfield Food Mart who provided supplies for the picnic at cost plus a donation.

Kim and Mim’s Market again this year donated a delicious salad and added the donation of the veggie burgers.

Corinne and Rooster’s were new sponsors this year. Corinne ably provided “safe serve” chef for the picnic and did really well under unusual conditions.

Again this year, Bruce Kahn provided the sound equipment so all could hear the great entertainers:

             -        Northfield ‘s own Joe Gaveline serenaded engaged young and old participants

             -        Since the beginning of the Northfield Community Picnic in 2011 the Retired Older Men Entertaining Others troupe has been entertaining enthusiastic picnic goers.

Northfield Fire Department with Fire Fighters Jim Wright and Rob Hunter brought Engine #2 to the festivities. Picnickers were treated to tours of Engine #2 and learned important information about the capacity of our Fire Department to protect us.

TransitionNorthfield members who participated in making the picnic possible —

Emily Koester – was the pre-picnic convener for the picnic. In the midst of changing circumstances, Emily got the pieces she’d planned to do covered by others. Emily did manage to come for the last hour of the picnic and helped in all ways needed. Emily helped with cleaning up after the picnic and returned the recycle containers to Franklin County Solid Waste.

Judi Campbell – continued convening the picnic organizers, created the tickets, worked to bring in other sponsors, helped poster and was the greeter and ticket seller at the picnic.

Don Campbell – Helped secure entertainer, Joe Graveline and the Fire Department’s participation along with being the Picnic’s MC.

Walter Jaworski – provided beef raised on his farm, brought Jim Rice’s corn to the park, worked at the grill all day and took the recycling to the transfer station.

Cliff Phillips – the maker of our fabulous signs, updated the picnic sign and hung our TransitionNorthfield sign at the park.

Sam and Barb Richardson – were huge helpers on picnic day. They filled in what ever was necessary or needed.

Laura Kaye – provided plates and flatware along with beautiful flowers for the picnic tables.

Annie Chappel – connected with Franklin County Solid Waste and got the recycle bins and signs to the park.

Erin Jaworski and David Thompson –hosted the Picnic sign. At the picnic, David was a walk-in griller to help.

Mo Spaulding -- put together lots of pre-picnic essentials including helping improve the park performance space for the children.

Judy Phillips – worked with food donors and handled financial issues.

And a shot out for those that sold advance ticket sellers:

Coffee & Books, Creamie, Dickinson Memorial Library. Mim’s Market, Northfield Food Mart, Senior Center

Thank you to all who helped make the 4th Annual Northfield Community Picnic a success
